My buddy Brad Goode is a pastor in Alabama. He works at a church i used to work at, St. James UMC!

The Jonathan Project :: This is a really cool scheme having to do with small group and putting their resources to use. I don’t know anything else really like it, so it’s a pretty cool idea on how to mobilize and stir creativity in your small group.

Also Brad knows a guy in Montgomery by the name of Brian Kelly. Brain is scheming BIG! Figuring out ways to break systemic violence and cycles of despair. Really AMAZING stuff.
Brian’s ministry in the inner city of Montgomery is called Common Grounds. And no it’s not a coffee shop! But it’s worth checking out and supporting for sure!

I think scheming is important for the Christian!
We can make plans or try and plot a course but those things often aren’t subversive enough. Planning is what everybody does. Plotting a course is to boring!
The Jesus followers must be on their toes, ready for the Spirit to move, ideas to be stirred, dreams to be given.
Revolutionary followers of Jesus :: THE RESISTANCE are people who scheme!
We scheme of ways to break down walls and emerge through cracks. We scheme of shattering power structures and forming communities. We scheme of ways to establishing life and bring heaven to earth.
The bottom line is that we scheme of ways to participate in God redemptive action and his eschatological movement!
We scheme as a community and we scheme with the Spirit!
Today I have been scheming…
So in this next year I plan on putting out an alubm, writing a book, and going on a tour.
Just a little scheming!
What are you scheming these days?
Most things come at you in spirts, and sometimes you can even kinda control the flow or even turn it off if you want.
And as i was writing the previous statement i wanted to follow it up by saying, “but life just keeps coming and you can’t really control it or turn it off… it just keeps coming and all you can do is just try and keep up with it.”
And that would have been partly true… but not really!
The reality of life is that you can control the flow!
In a really large way you can control the flow of life. What’s coming, what’s going… your time, attention, attitudes, and everything. YOU CONTROL IT! (at least in alot of ways)
So to start this post i wanted to say, “Life just keeps coming and i’m trying to keep up.”
And you would have known what i was talking about. e-mail, facebook (the million other social network platforms you are plugged into), friends, family, kids (gulp), work, work, did i say work… and everything else.
BUT really, i have control over ALOT of this.
I can unplug, slow down, manage time. I can be and do what i want.
So instead of saying i have no control, i think in this moment i am realizing I DO have control and i need to wield it! And live the kind of like i was created to live and i want to live.
LIFE… get ready to keep up with me!

All these guys were at a conference i attended the last couple days.
#ppp09 = Poets, Prophets, Preachers Conference :: hosted in Grand Rapids Michigan, a.k.a. G-Rap. Which acording to Rob Bell is the Progressive Culture Capital of the world or something? Debatable!
There is A LOT to unload from this time. i took some note and plan on spending some time here sharing them with you.
